LINDSEY
RAMSDELL
Co-Editor-in-Chief
My name is Lindsey Ramsdell, and I'm a senior at Grosse Pointe North High School. I have been on staff of our newspaper, the North Pointe, for almost four years. I joined my freshman year as a staff reporter and moved up to assistant editor of news by the end of the year. At the end of my sophomore year, I became Editor-in-Chief. The North Pointe is an eight-page biweekly, student-run publication. During my time as Editor we earned two Spartan Awards (for web and print), a second place Best-in-Show award at the JEA conference in Los Angeles in 2016, and two Gold Crowns with marks of distinction from CSPA.

Besides editing, I've also done design and a lot of writing. I write mostly news stories and in-depth research articles.Outside of North Pointe I'm pretty science-oriented. I am going to Harvard University next year to follow a premedical track and I'm considering studying psychology. My area of interest in this portfolio is in News Design, but you will find that I byline on many of the pages I design. I find it's helpful when designing to understand what the story is about. This helps me establish a strong verbal-visual connection throughout the page.
Story planning for the next issue. I choose from ideas that staffers pitch to add to the story board.
